An exploration of Cobbold Gorge awaits today, hidden within a rugged sandstone formation. A jewel in the Gulf Savannah, learn about its ancient geological formations.

Journey to the historic goldrush town of Croydon and visit the True Blue Interactive Information Centre, home to an array of heritage items and sculptures. Continue to Karumba and end your day with a special Signature Experience. Stay Two Nights: Karumba, Ash's Holiday Units (B/L/D)

Signature Experiences:
  • Enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise in Karumba and indulge in a selection of local king prawns as you take in the sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Journey to Normanton, where you'll see the famous Purple Pub and Victorian-era railway station. Enjoy a selfguided heritage walk around the station precinct and museum. Built in 1889, the station is a treasure trove of history and architecture.

Afterwards, visit the Les Wilson Barramundi Discovery Centre to learn all about this iconic fish. The centre is the only hatchery in the world to breed the Southern Gulf strain of barramundi. (B/L/D)

Depart Kurumba and Head to Normanton and then travel onto the TOP Road. Continue on to Camp 119, the monument commemorates Burke and Wills campsite 119 which was their most northerly campsite during their expedition in 1861. Arrive at Leichhardt Falls, a plunge waterfall on the Leichardt River. Take in the natural landscape, and you may even spot a saltwater crocodile in the nearby river.

Afterwards, you will visit Burketown Thermal Springs, hot springs that have been created from a bore drilled into the ground in 1897. Head to Hells gate Roadhouse for tonight's stay. Stay: Hell's Gate Roadhouse (B/L/D)
