Glacial Fjords & Grand Forests

Alaska's Inside Passage is a protected network of waterways that wind through glacier-cut fjords and lush temperate rain forests along the rugged coast of Southeast Alaska. Arguably one of the greatest cruising routes in the world, the Inside Passage stretches through stunning landscapes, from Misty Fjords National Monument to famed Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - WILD BY NATURE: Sailing the Inside Passage offers opportunities to spot some of Alaska's most iconic wildlife, with humpback whales and orcas plying the bountiful waters alongside the ships, bald eagles soaring overhead and brown bears lumbering on the shoreline.

Old-growth trees colonised Tracy Arm's mouth long ago as the Ice Age retreated. Continue cruising to Juneau, Alaska and visit the most remote, most beautiful, and strangest state capital in the United States. Surrounded by water, forest and mountain sights, visitors seeking things to do in Juneau indoors and outdoors can hike a glacier, eat fresh-caught fish on a seaside patio and tour a grand capitol building all in one day. The Rush for Gold

At the height of the Klondike Gold Rush, the port town of Skagway served as the primary gateway to the legendary gold fields, and quickly grew into Alaska's largest settlement. It was then a raucous frontier hub packed with trading posts, saloons, and guesthouses. As the gold rush faded into the 1900s, so did Skagway - but today it has been reinvigorated as a gateway for a new kind of visitor: those looking to explore Alaska's colourful history, pristine wildlife, and unrivalled natural beauty. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - LEGENDS & LORE: At every turn, you'll find yourself immersed in gold rush lore in the town of Skagway, from the infamous Red Onion Saloon that still keeps a pistol that Wyatt Earp left behind on his way to the Klondike, to the narrow-gauge White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, traversing rugged mountains, waterfalls, and towering glaciers on its course to Whitehorse deep in the Yukon.

Making a Splash

On your cruise to Glacier Bay (A UNESCO World Heritage Site), close your eyes and take in the sounds - the creaks and groans of 'living' ice, the shrill cries of gulls and soaring eagles, the splash of a breaching humpback whale. Frosted peaks towering over mossy forests, wide tidewater glaciers (there are seven in the park), and marine wildlife are givens on Glacier Bay cruises, but every experience in this changing biosphere is unique. (B/L/D)

With the serene majesty of snow-flecked and forested mountains defining its shores, Glacier Bay National Park offers some of the most dramatic scenery in the world. Keep your binoculars and camera at the ready as you cruise Glacier Bay to the mile-wide Margerie Glacier for the chance to witness ice calving. Wildlife abounds in Glacier Bay, so stay ready - you never know when you will see the fluke of a humpback rise out of the water or spot a lone brown bear patrolling a windswept beach.

Alaska's First City

Take an adventure and cruise to Ketchikan, Alaska. Alaska's "First City" of Ketchikan is so named because it's the first major landfall for most cruisers as they enter the picturesque fjords of the Inside Passage, where the town clings to the banks of the Tongass Narrows, flanked by green forests nurtured by abundant rain. (B/L/D)

TOUR HIGHLIGHT - HISTORY & TRADITION: Ketchikan has long been an important hub of the salmon-fishing and -packing industries. Visitors can savour the fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants on a cruise to Ketchikan excursion. A trip not be be missed   1 , TAS, Australia, Jul 2023
I found this trip advertised on an app on my phone. 21 day great Canadian rail journey with Alaska cruise. I contacted Global Journeys and talked to Georgie Walpole who organised the total holiday for my wife and I and what a holiday it turned out to be. Highlights were Niagara Falls, the CN Tower meal at the rotating restaurant, train from Toronto ...read more across to Jasper. The food on the train was top quality with local produce as we crossed the country. Our Globus tour guide has been guiding this particular tour for over 10 years and had a lot of knowledge that she gave us. From Jasper to Victoria Vancouver island we travelled on a bus. We only had 25 on the tour so we all became friends. Like a small family.

Butchart garden's was a highlight on Vancouver island. What a magnificent garden. A must. Our final part of the tour was the inside passage on Holland America Line. The ship was great. The restaraunts and entertainment were great. We were lucky enough to see whales breaching. Seals and sea otters. I could go on and on but I recommend that if you get a chance to see Canada this is the perfect tour to take. Thank you Globus.
Great Canadian rail journey with Alaska cruise 0 , NSW, Australia, May 2023
Hannah Campbell from Global journeys was an excellent communicator. The information provided was clear and concise, the email responses prompt. The entire experience was smooth and worry free. The tour was fantastic. The Canadian Globus tour guide, ue Landry, was fantastic. The Holland America cruise was amazing. We would definitely recommend ...read more this tour for those who love to see beautiful scenery, eat delicious food and enjoy someone else guiding the way!
Great Canadian rail journey   2 , VIC, Australia, Sep 2018
We had a wonderful time! The accommodation everywhere we stayed was excellent, the food was delicious and the Canadian people are delightful and super friendly! Our only issue was the train, the cabin was so small we had to take it in turn to move around. The service on train was excellent as was the food, it was an experience and we shared many a laugh ...read more with our fellow passengers! Canada is breathtakingly beautiful, felt like we were inside a postcard.
Canada and Alaska 2018 1 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2018
Global Journeys' service is always excellent. The train and ship were well done and unique experiences but we won't be repeating them. Not an issue with the tour as such, but the North American tipping experience takes the shine off any visit.
Great Canadian Rail Journey 6 , NSW, Australia, Aug 2018
Excellent guide Sybille and bus driver Garod. Accommodation was excellent. Pace was perfect. All the people were great to travel with and no one was late getting back on the coach after we stopped for photo opportunities or toilet breaks (even though there was a toilet available on the coach, we still had plenty of breaks). Staff at the hotel accommodation ...read more were excellent and helpful. Some of the hotels had DIY laundry which was helpful so you do not have to pack as many clothes. The cruise ship also had a package to get your laundry done. The cost for us was USA$49.00 for unlimited washing as long as you can put it in a small blue washing bag that they supplied one of, and we just asked our room steward for more which was not a problem. There was no DIY facility on the ship for laundry.

When there was a meal supplied the food was excellent. The only negative was the staff on the train. The dining staff were excellent from Toronto to Edmonton but the new dining staff from Edmonton to Vancouver were rude, especially the man who was in charge of the dining car. On the cruise ship the only downer was the overcharging of the helicopter tour in Skagway. Got charged extra USA$130.00 for being 2kg overweight with most of my extra layers on due to the fact you are going on a freezing glacier so had to rug up. Then they tried to charge me twice for that tour, which was prepaid before I left Australia. (Globus has no control over the cruise, my negative about the cruise is aimed at Holland America). Over all had an excellent time with my fellow travellers on this holiday.
Great Canadian Rail Journey & Alaska Cruise 4 , NSW, Australia, May 2018
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent holiday with Global Journeys and Globus. It was a "trouble-free" experience and we thank Yvonne Brooks for ensuring everything went to plan. The whole trip offered very good value for money (compared to other offerings we had looked at). Very few operators offer a package that takes you from the eastern side of Canada ...read more (including a visit to the amazing Niagara Falls) to the west across the plains and the Rockies and then onto a ship to sail through the beautiful Inside Passage.

The Rockies were spectacular and the sites we visited were breathtaking. Butchart Gardens in Victoria on Vancouver Island are a "must see". Alaska looks like the "last frontier" and Glacier Bay offered sights we'll never forget. We went Dog-sledding in Skagway which was a unique experience. All in all it was a wonderful holiday. Thank you Global Journeys.
